Promoter Frank Warren reportedly expects the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury trilogy to take place before a clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua, provided the Gypsy King wins on December 21.
Warren told talkSport that he expects the Usyk-Fury trilogy to happen before a Fury faces Joshua. It would make sense for Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to immediately fight Usyk in a trilogy if he wins the rematch on Dec. 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, Fury will likely lose that fight.
Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) had Fury’s number in their previous bout on May 18 and was just one punch away from KOing him in the ninth round. Fury’s recent physical form suggests he is not in the best shape, believing he can cruise to victory in the rematch on December 21.
If Usyk defeats Fury again, it will be bad for the Gypsy King and he may have to start thinking about retirement. If His Excellency Turki Alalshikh is still interested in the Fury vs. Joshua fight, it will be a tough sell without Tyson redeeming himself against a world-class contender.
Joshua, 35, was destroyed by Daniel Dubois in a fifth-round knockout on Sept. 21, and he looked awful in that bout.
