“I haven’t spoken to Paris in three months,” former heavyweight titlist Tyson Fury recently said TNT Sports in an interview. “Not a word.” Paris, for those who don’t know, is Fury’s wife, as well as the mother of his children. “I don’t miss them,” Fury said of his family, claiming that while he loves his family, he has managed to separate his boxing life from his family life. And, with his rematch with titlist Oleksandr Usyk set to take place this Saturday, the focus must be on scientific sweetness. Of course, Fury has said some surprising things before and sometimes it’s hard to tell how serious the man is about some of the things he says.
However, there is no doubt that Fury seems serious in the interview. The joking fury that fans and media are often apt to see is largely gone, replaced by an intense, bearded, focused professional. “My mission has never been to be unquestioned,” she says. “It was never my mission. They were other people’s missions. My mission is to break this damn face on Saturday night. There’s no way he can beat me. Nobody. I don’t have a slice this time I’m breastfeeding… I’ve never been so sure in my life I’m going to break that c—-r’s face.”
Tough talk. “I’m going to destroy him on Saturday night,” Fury continues. “You look. Watch me go to work on Saturday night. Fury goes on to clarify that he feels he won the first fight with Usyk, even though the judge awarded Usyk the win. Without a doubt, it was a close battle. Fury promises to secure a decisive victory on Saturday night in Saudi Arabia. “What I’m going to do to him,” Fury said of Usyk, “he’s not going to want a trilogy.”
This weekend’s rematch is worth waiting for. While the undisputed heavyweight championship won’t be on the line like in the first Fury-Usyk fight, Usyk’s multiple world titles will be on the line. Not only that, these two fighters are so evenly matched that it’s hard to pick a winner. After all, the first battle between the two men was extremely close. Win, lose or draw, however, Fury makes it clear in the video that he intends to stay in the fight game no matter what.

“Not in a million years will I leave after this,” he said when asked about retirement.
