Bohachuk vs. Davis: Title eliminator to top Fury-Usyk 2

Tonight’s bout between Serhii Bohachuk and Ishmael Davis has an excellent chance of stealing the show from Tyson Fury’s rematch against Oleksandr Usyk 2 in the main event at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Bohachuk-Davis: Stealing the Show?

Former WBC interim junior middleweight champion Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) was involved in what many believe was the fight of the year in his last contest against Vergil Ortiz Jr. on Aug. 10. Bohachuk knows only one way to fight: attack relentlessly. In contrast, the protagonist Fury-Usyk 2 could end up being a chess game and lacking in drama.

To save the card, Bohachuk and Davis will have to bring excitement to the fans who order the event live on DAZN PPV. Bohachuk will force Ishmael to fight more aggressively than usual because he will be trampled during the entire fight. Davis uses a three-step drop after throwing shots or when being chased, but this approach won’t work against Bohachuk because it would cut off the ring, forcing him to brawl.

The normal dive and clinch that Davis uses won’t work well if he tries this tactic tonight because Bohachuk is good at hitting opponents when they try to grab him. He is also good at fighting while being restrained. Davis may not last long if he chooses a different strategy in this fight. Once again, this is an important fight for Davis, and he has to give it his all if he wants to win. He won’t win by eliminating Bohachuk. That’s what he said he’ll try.

Bohachuk favorite

“He’s still a WBC final eliminator. This is one of the easier choices. Many people thought Bohachuk defeated Vergil Ortiz. I love Bohachuk in this fight,” Dan Rafael told BetUs. “He got 24 wins including 23 by knockout. The only guy that went the distance with him was Vergil Ortiz.

“He had a knockout loss several years ago [against Brandon Adams on March 4, 2021]. Bohachuk wins this fight. I think he knocked out his opponent [Davis]. I think he wins. I think he will show his qualities and put himself in a position to fight for a title.

“While I give a lot of credit to Ishmael for taking this fight on short notice and being well compensated for it, I love Bohachuk in this fight.”

Davis got lucky not only fighting back from a 12-round split decision loss to Josh Kelly on Sept. 21, but also fighting in the WBC 154-pound title eliminator. If he can win this fight, he will fight for a world title and receive a seven-figure paycheck.

“Ishmael Davis took this fight on very short notice. I think it’s 10 days, if so. He is a British level fighter. He has a defeat. He’s not a great boxer. There are no large wins on his record or medium-sized wins on his record. I’m not saying he’s not good, but he’s never done it before. He doesn’t have much gripping power and takes the fight at short notice,” Rafael said.
