TROY, Ala. — Sitting on the field behind home plate, protected by a screen, during an intrasquad Troy drop, it’s hard not to notice how tempting that 30-foot-tall right field monster looks, just 310 feet from home plate. The Monster, which received a new 21-foot-by-71-foot video board before last season, can make opposing pitchers feel claustrophobic, particularly when they’re facing one of Troy’s saves of left-handed hitters.
With that wall in mind, it’s no wonder Troy has a roster full of left-handed bats who can take advantage of the wall, as well as left-handed pitchers who can neutralize other teams’ lefties.[…]
